Our First Review! : The Walking Dead

So this is obviously very late on the band wagon considering the Walking Dead franchise has comepletely taken the world by storm for the past two/three-ish years or so. And no doubt, Telltale's "The Walking Dead" lived up to the immense hype. This game was like nothing I'd ever played before. It was a comepletely different gaming experience. And that is the best part about it. The complete and total uniqueness of the game is so addicting and if you'd played even just the first chapter, you'd understand why.

(MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD)
This game. Can we please talk about this game. Telltale Games, first off, hats off to you guys for making one of the most heartwrenching plotlines I've played this year. I cried a in the end almost as I did when John died in the end of Red Dead Redemption (if I spoiled that for you, I'm sorry, but if you haven't played RDR yet, what the hell are you doing with your life?) and trust me, it was a lot. But that, to me, is the making of a perfect game. Something that can wrap all of your emotions around a single character and their struggles, whatever they may be. Not to mention that I love decision based games and every choice you make in this game completely shapes the outcome of your story.

You start off as Lee and to your surprise, you're in the back of a cop car. As it turns out, Lee is a convicted murderer. You can choose to be honest with the cop driving you, or just in general tell him to mind his own business. Nonetheless, your car gets wrecked after you hit and discover that the dead are now roaming the streets, and you have to find help. You come across a house and this is when you discover the most adorable character any videogame has every produced; Clementine.

This little girl had managed to survive a zombified baby sitter and seek refuge in her tree house. I mean,  how can you not love her. Regardless, you now are in charge of looking out for her and finding her parents that are on vacation in Savannah even though you know, that hope for finding them looks rather bleak. But when you look at her face, you can't help but try and choose every decision to make her happy.

I wont give away too much from then on because really, you have to play this game. It was one of the most addicting games I've played in so long and I've already replayed it twice to test out different options. When they say the choices you make tailor the outcomes of the game, they don't lie. The smallest decisions like taking food or talking to someone can jerk your game onto a completely different path. It's ridiculous how good they've made this game. Something exciting is that the completely anticipated announcement of the "Season 2" episodes. I cannot wait to get back into the game once they decide to release the next episodes. But take my word on this one, Walking Dead is a must buy. It's just one of those games that sticks with you and you will not regret buying it. Easily, a five out of five. If you played Walking Dead, what was your favorite aspect about the game? Who did you choose to side with and who did you like most in the game?
